There is absolutely nothing free in this world even if you don’t pay to get them, your time, energy, and a few resources will be needed to get your desired needs.

I will be listing out some skills you could learn and where to learn them (free or paid) and in the future, I will be posting about internships, jobs, and volunteering jobs you could do to boost yourself and be prepared for the real-world experience.

1. Content Writing: Content writing or creative writing is the art of using words to tell stories, explain complicated theories, and so on. There are different kinds of writing. Novel writing, Content writing, Technical writing, and many other writings. This type of skill is very essential in everything you want to do, be it writing a resume, writing steps on how to cook, writing a story you formed in your head, and many other things.

Now here are ways that you can improve your content writing skills:

- Taking online courses

- Practicing what you know and pushing it out there.

- Take to corrections

- Improve in ways you can by all means

- Take seriously constructive and destructive criticism that helps you to improve, if it points out ways you actually need to improve on, then ignore how it is been put and work on it

2. Web Development: This involves creating websites that are used by users on the internet. It can be websites, web applications, mobile responsive websites, and all those. Web developers hold a really great stake in any company they work in because they build the beautiful usable website that they or the UX team designed so that the website can serve you as the user better and more efficiently. There are three major sections in the web development world. The Front-end developers take care of the Visual, behavior/responsiveness of the website that runs on your browser, the Back-end developer deals with the server side of any working webpage, and these guys take care of how you receive information on the web (how fast/slow). Whenever there is an issue with the webpage and it is taking time to load or doesn’t give the user his/her expected results, the back-end guys get to work and fix it up. The Full-stack developer is a combination of both of them. They also take cloud-related courses to better work efficiency.

Now here are ways that you can improve your Web Development skills:

- Taking online courses/Watching YouTube videos on how to solve problems you get stuck with.

- Going to stack overflow to get answers to the issues you are facing with your project.

- Code! Code! Code! There is no other way than to practice all that you have learned every time. Eat it, drink it, meditate it.

- Take to corrections

- Improve in ways you can by all means.

- Have a mentor/someone you can talk to when you get stuck.

- Have a goal and stick to it.

- Take seriously constructive and destructive criticism that helps you to improve, if it points out ways you actually need to improve on, then ignore how it is been put and work on it

3. UI/UX Design: UI/UX design is the design that involves getting to know problems that end users are facing and coming up with a minimum viable product (MVP) that can solve the problem of the user as they grow. The UI part of this design deals with the looks and feel of the product. They mostly look forward to giving readability to their end user and creating interfaces that would make their users/customers comfortable and satisfied with how the product looks like. The UX part concentrates mostly on the flow of the user, they focus more on giving their users a blissful experience as they skim through the product and their work consists of giving out surveys to users so that they better understand what pain the users feel when they use a particular product, know what exactly the users would want to use or see, interview users to get a deep understanding of their pain so that when creating the product, the needs of the users will be put first for a better user experience.

Now here are ways that you can improve your skills in UI/UX:

- Taking online courses and also watching YouTube videos that help you improve

- Practicing with design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Proto.io, and many others design tools to get better at it

- Publish your projects and seeks feedback from peers and mentors. There are no other ways to improve.

- Learn new trends and apply them to future projects.

- Take seriously constructive and destructive criticism that helps you to improve, if it points out ways you actually need to improve, then ignore how it is been put in and work on it.
